BREATHE AND PUSH - midwiving a new world

Inspired by the words of Valerie Kaur, Clare Dubois, Meryl Streep, Maya Angelou, Wonder Woman, Arundhati Roy and the signs in Women's marsh on Washington I wrote this song as a reminder to all of us who feel despair when watching how dark the world is right now. Remember, it's always darkest before dawn.

BREATHE AND PUSH
Midwiving a new world

"From the shadows of history
a new world is on the rise.
From silenced stories
and the darkest burning times
Through women's wounded hearts
she whispers in squares and parks
"We will take our broken heart
And make it into art".

They tried to bury us
They didn't know we were seeds.
Now we can't keep quiet
And we are unquenchable like weeds.
We are the granddaughters of the witches you weren't able to burn.
The tables are now shifting
Together we have lots to learn.

It's not about good or evil,
it's more of what we believe in.
And we believe in love
That is where we begin.
Cause this darkness that we live in
is not the darkness of the tomb,
This darkness that we live in
Is the darkness of the womb.

So first we breathe, and then we push.
A new world is on her way
Now we breathe and then we push
This girl is here to stay

First we breathe, and then we push.
A new world is on her way
Now we breathe and then we push
This girl is here to stay"
